## Personal Description:

I am married man with three children.Teacher of GCSE science/maths and A level Mathematics/physics… My working hours are between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday also evenings during the week, and Saturday / Sunday morning. I can usually travel up to two miles to your home. Unfortunately the only times I now have available are Tue and Friday evenings and some time during the day.

## Tutoring Experience:

I have 16 years teaching experience in Leeds schools, teaching GCSE science, maths and A level maths/physics and10 years continuous tutoring experience. I have a hons degree in theoretical physics and a PGCE in maths/physics. I also have an HNC in chemistry. Qualifications, excellent ofsted reports and testimonials available. I also tutor mature students during the day time. Students taking further education courses, access courses, the teaching of mathematics and physics to first year undergraduates of engineering etc.

## Tutoring Approach:

I have a patient and relaxed approach but I do have high expectations. I continuously motivate and encourage my students to do their best, and when required modify my approach to suit the needs of the individual. I would expect students to complete homeworks and to be on top of the last lesson and ready for the next. All my students have produced excellent results at GCSE and A level.

I have a keen interest in mathematics and I am sure my enthusiasm motivates my students enormously. After the first lesson I usually formulate a plan as to how I will go about teaching that student and discuss with the parent. I always keep the parents informed at the end of each lesson as to their child's progress. The new A level specification suits my methods and gives me that extra flexibility. I am a big fan of doing past examination question papers and I plough through as many as possible.

If it takes longer than one hour to satisfactorily get through the required work, then I will spend longer and at no extra charge. I do not charge traveling expenses. All my lessons are £25/hr, GCSE and A level because I put the same amount effort into everything I do.

**From Jonathan ( /5):**

*(A-Level Maths)*He's been very useful and has helped me in learning a large part of the C2 syllabus for AQA A2 Maths. I feel that i will be alot more confident in my exam thanks to him.

**Reply from Richard:**Thanks Jonathan.

**From Carol ( /5):**

*(A-Level Maths)*I do not feel his type of tutoring has helped me. I did seek help close to my exam in the hope it would give me a bit more confidence to get through some tough topics… I feel there was no structure, a bit erractic.

I personally needed someone to sit down with me and calmly expalin.

**Reply from Richard:**I have taken on students in the past who wish to brush up at the last minute for an exam only to find out that they know nothing at all about the subject for whatever reason. It is impossible to create a structured learning program for an entire math’s course that can be implemented and carried through in a few hours. All that can be done is cover some of the basic techniques required to attempt some of the questions. Never before have I had a student who had a copy of the exam paper they were going to be given coupled with an insistence that they be given the exact solutions to the questions and a resistance to learn the basics required to solve similar or almost identical problems. Of the two homework’s given the first was entirely wrong because there was no serious attempt made to figure out the answers and the second was not done at all.

**From Wendy ( /5):**

*(GCSE Maths)*Richard was extremely helpful and his teaching methods were very clear and well planned. i would like to thank him for his help.

**Reply from Richard:**Thanks Wendy

*(A-Level Physics)*Mr Richard is very helpful, and I gained a lot information from him, before starting the lessons I wasn't had any confident on my self, but he really helped me. I understand form him. although he is very flexible in time and date, and i will continue the lessons with Mr Richard

**Reply from Richard:**It was a pleasure.

From Neelam (5/5):(A-Level Maths)Richard is a great tutor, knowledgable, and able to adjust to my daughters learning pace. He's been a real help to my daughter who found certain modules in maths A level very difficult. He's a really nice guy, patient and his knowledge of the subject is excellent. I would recommend him to anyone as his commitment to teaching is applaudable.
