This is how 2 referees rated Richard:
Having recently graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford, I am a PhD student at UCL studying theoretical physics. As an undergraduate I obtained a first class degree. I am 24 and originally from Yeovil in Somerset.
I have taught A Level Maths before and am currently teaching an Engineering undergraduate. I volunteer with the charity Action Tutoring, with whom I am teaching GCSE Maths once a week. Action have provided me with training.
Depending on the level already achieved by the student, I will either set exam-style questions to be done before the tutorial, that we can subsequently go through (which is how, for the most part, I was taught at Oxford), or I will explain the material on paper, engaging the student as we go, before setting questions in the tutorial itself. The latter method has the added bonus of producing notes that the student can refer back to.
