A committed, enthusiastic and fully qualified mathematics teacher with several years classroom and one to one mentor experience. I have a BSc Honours degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics and I am currently employed as a full time Mathematics teacher at a Grammar school. Prior to becoming a teacher I had a full and successful career in the Royal Air Force This experience together with the enthusiasm to teach mathematics gives me , perhaps, a unique opportunity to inspire and motivate young people to the delights and practical applications of the subject.
I am and have always been employed full time, teaching all age groups in secondary education in both Boys and Girls Grammar Schools within Lincolnshire. I teach GCSE mathematics with a high proportion of students gaining A/A* grades. Mathematics is a popular choice for Sixth Form students and a high percentage of my teaching is taken at AS, A2 and Further Mathematics level including Decision 1/2 and Mechanics 1/2 Modules. I have a wealth of resources including many years past examination papers at all levels of the subject.
I strongly believe in the traditional values of the subject, not only having wide applications but also developing logical processes to solve abstract problems. I believe that mathematics plays an important role in educating young people in a manner possibly unlike any other subject. At the same time I am able to relate mathematical problems to real life applications. This is often both fun and stimulating inspiring students to appreciate the benefits that mathematics has to offer. One to one mentoring gives the mentor a unique opportunity to motivate and impart knowledge in a structured style that is easily grasped by students of all ages. I look forward to hearing from you.
