I teach in a college and most of my teaching is delivered to GCSE students. I have taught A level at the college but my main focus is on teaching students GCSE English.
Part of my contract involves teaching students with specific learning difficulties. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in SEN.
I enjoy working with students who have not achieved well at school; watching them excel and develop is the most satisfying part of my job.
I also have been involved in helping students learn to plan and write short stories. I have had a book on Welsh rugby published and have my first One Act play coming out this year.
FE College: 2004 - present (A Level English, GCSE English, Basic Skills, Essential Skills, AMBDA Assessor for students with specific Learning Difficulties)
One-to-One: 2006- present (Caerphilly Borough)
My approach is quite informal. I believe my main attribute is getting along with the student. I believe if a student is comfortable with their tutor then a good lesson will be achieved.
I monitor the student's work each week and test them monthly to ensure that development is being made.
I believe, from the results that I have had with my students, that my approach is conducive to excellent learning.
