Richard

Willenhall Tutor

I have lived in the West Midlands for nearly 35 years, after moving here from the West Country in 1981. A long-time supporter of Somerset County Cricket Club, I enjoy watching cricket and following the travails of the England cricket team. I also play the piano and favour both the music of J. S. Bach and modern jazz composers.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for 33 years at Wood Green Academy, an 11-18 comprehensive school. I have taught all levels of Mathematics ranging from Key Stage 3 up to and including Further Mathematics. I also have experience of teaching the GCSE Statistics and the AS Statistics courses. I have been caoching students for the past two years at all levels, including some first year Degree work.

Tutoring Approach

Whilst the one to one environment is ideal for developing self-confidence in mastering the methods and techniques needed in Mathematics, it also gives an opportunity to focus on the understanding behind the topic. This, I believe, is fundamental in helping the student to become more proficient in the subject.
