I've a 2:1 Degree in Sports Coaching and Physical Education and a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education and have played a number of sports to a high level, including representing English Universities at Football. I currently play football for a local team and run for a running club. Currently training for an ultra-marathon. I have a keen interest in all sports, reading and maths.
I am in my 4th year of teaching at a local comprehensive secondary school. I currently tutor primary KS1 and KS2 maths preparing pupils for their SATs. I can also offer KS3 and GCSE biology, and GCSE PE.
A student-centred approach to teaching/tutoring believing that my pupils will learn more effectively if they figure concepts and problems out. I take a structured and organised approach to tutoring. This involves the provision of high quality, self made workbooks for students to complete alongside my teaching - I take a 'learning by doing' approach and do not lecture. This is followed up by the creation of mind maps and the completion of exam questions. I work to find out how my pupils learn best and adapt my teaching to their learning needs.
