I am a lively and enthusiastic maths graduate. I have a real passion, not only for maths, but for making maths understandable for everyone.
I have worked in the city for 10 years since graduating from university, working as an actuary. This has required me to continue to take mathematical exams above and beyond the university syllabus.
I have tutoring experience across many levels - from tutoring for the 11+ up to A Level, as well as for the professional investment exams known as the CFA.
I have been required to help GCSE and A Level students achieve their maximum potential, as well as to improve the confidence of younger students. I really enjoy using my time to help students realise that they can do maths and it's not as scary as they first thought!
I am very familiar with both the new GCSE and the new A level syllabus and enjoy helpful students get to grips with the problem solving that is included in the current exams.
I am very friendly and approachable. I provide encouragement to pupils to talk me through their thought process when answering a question. If it is correct I am full of enthusiasiasm, if it is not I explain where they have gone wrong.
I am happy to provide homework if the parent requests and the pupil believes they have time to do it on top of their schoolwork. Once I have spent a few weeks with GCSE and A Level pupils I like them to attempt a paper on their own for us to go through in our lesson - this means that we can make sure we can use the lesson most efficiently to concentrate on the topics the pupil finds difficult. For all levels I like to carry out regular progress tests.
Please note that I also run group revision sessions during the school holidays so if this is something you might be interested in, please feel free to send me a message.
