Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am currently a postgraduate student, reading for a masters degree in international security. I also hold a bachelor of arts degree in politics with first class honours from the University of York. I am very passionate about education which is why I am still studying myself and hope to use this passion to help others to enjoy and succeed with their own education! I can provide tuition in English up to A-Level, as well as English as a foreign language. I can also tutor in politics up to A-Level and history up to GCSE.

Tutoring Experience:

I hold a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate which means I have received training in English grammar and language and also lesson planning. I also worked in a primary school for a year as a learning support assistant which involved working one-to-one with children who found lessons more challenging than others and also taking out small groups of children in order to provide them with extra tuition in the subjects they struggled with. In addition to this, I have taught entire class lessons, mostly when other teachers were away. I also have experience of helping year 6 students to prepare for their SATs examinations as well as assisting them in sitting such examinations (for children who need extra help with reading and writing).

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is essential for anyone in a teaching capacity to be friendly and approachable as it is incredibly important that students feel comfortable enough to ask questions and admit when they may be struggling so that any difficulties can be worked through together. I also feel that making learning as enjoyable and engaging as possible is key to successful tutoring and will always endeavour to do so. I will always try to work with students to find the best methods of teaching and learning for them, rather than just dictating to them how they should be learning!
