I'm currently a 2nd Year Drama and Theatre Studies student at Royal Holloway, where I explore a broad range of skills from academic writing to performance. I'm very enthusiastic about learning, and am both friendly and approachable!
I began my first year of Drama at the University of Lincoln, and here my essays were consistently 1st class, with my highest grade being 80%. I also took a gap year before studying, where I took a part-time course in Musical Theatre alongside working.
Aside from academics, I'm interested in music and play the drums and keyboard. I also take part in weekly quizzes with my friends and am part of the university musical theatre society.
I am yet to teach in a formal way, however I often look over peers' essays and have an eye for detail in spelling, punctuation and grammar. I have great communication skills and patience, so can find many ways to explain things if the student needs me to. During Sixth Form, I ran the Year 7 Drama Club and was assistant tutor to a Year 7 Form Group.
I completely understand the benefit of having a tutor, as I had one myself for GCSE History where I obtained an A and A* in both exams - it was a very inspiring and enlightening experience, and from this I learnt how to critique essays and have since carried this out through my studies.
This is why I offer tutoring in essay practice and exam technique for GCSE English, History and Drama, but also help develop and hone essential skills for those who are younger and perhaps need an extra push to gain confidence in these subjects before they reach exam stage.
I'd like to hear the student's concerns and worries about exams and coursework, and then I can help them develop in these areas. If a student would like to show me their work, I'd love to look over it and show them where they could improve to achieve higher marks and talk through essay technique.
Particularly for Drama GCSE and A-Level, I understand that students may struggle more with the essay writing so am eager to help students exceed in this discipline as well as their performances.
I'd like the student to come from the experience feeling confident in themselves and their work ready for exams and coursework. For those who just need an extra push at primary and secondary level, I'm happy to give extra guidance and support in understanding their subject.
