Personal Description:

I am a 25-year-old graduate who has a BSc Physics(HONS) degree from Imperial College London and an MSC in Theoretical Physics(Distinction + Higgs Award) from The University of Edinburgh. Currently, I am doing my PhD here at Newcastle University with an award(DTA), obtained through the assessment of my past academic achievements. Having gone through intensive education environment at both these universities, I can safely say that I am well-equipped with mathematical and analytical skills required to teach both mathematics and physics.

Tutoring Experience:

I started tutoring GCSE students during my final year at Imperial College. I taught Year 10 and Year 11 students Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Although my degrees are both in Physics, I took these four subjects for my A-levels, for which I received an award for being the third best student in the country(Malaysia). I continued teaching GCSE students Mathematics even when I went back to my home country for a year after finishing my undergraduate course. After one year in Malaysia, I came back to do my Masters at the University of Edinburgh where I spent 3 months teach mathematics at a Kip McGrath Education Centre in Edinburgh.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching involves me helping the student tackle work sheets. I believe that practice makes perfect. We discover and familiarise ourselves with the type of questions that can be tested in exams and the more we do, the more familiar we become. I help students achieve this. I am happy to provide more work sheets and notes to students who require it but I expect my students to play their part too. I also teach while my students do the work sheets, providing them with tips and tricks to tackle different kinds of problems.
