I have a qufied teacher status, graduated from University of Greenwich in July 2010. I studied mathematics throughout my education life from GCSE's to my degree. I am eager to pursue my career in tutoring pupils on a one to one basis as I think this will give my pupils a better chance of concentration and in turn will understand the topics of mathematics.
Experience is a crucial area to develop further ideas about teaching. During my first placement and my second placement, I have taught various topics from shape and space to algebra such as indices and quadratic equations. Although the ethics of both schools are very different from each other, I received an insight into the prospects of teaching and was provided with an enjoyable and challenging experience. It became evident from the beginning that every child reacts differently to various teaching methods, which emphasises to me the necessity of quickly adapting to different situations.
During my experience in schools I also worked as a personal tutor to various aged pupils ageing from 11-16 also including AS Level Mathematics. I have become very aware of the variety of teaching styles, for example, more proactive learning tasks such as building blocks are more suitable for the younger years. Older students find that step by step demonstration allows them to have a better understanding of the theory behind the concept.
