I am a fully qualified and experienced secondary Mathematics teacher. I have had great success with boosting the skills and confidence of students who were doubtful of their capability. You will find me approachable, encouraging and patient.
People have commented that my lessons are always very well planned. They are structured to bring forward prior learning, assess, teach and consolidate. In lessons I like to show my enthusiasm for Mathematics and I use a variety of teaching approaches as further means to engage learners. I have enjoyed teaching students of all abilities but I make a point of carefully nurturing the confidence of those who think of themselves as weaker than they are. Last year two such students of mine were joint runners up for the school Mathematics Prize due to their progress.
In a classroom full of students there is often not enough time to give the individual attention that is needed. This is why I enjoy being Removed tutor so much.
I graduated with a B.A. class 2:1 from the University of Liverpool in Mathematics and Computing. After a successful career writing software I returned to the subject I always enjoyed the most, Mathematics. I qualified as a teacher of secondary Mathematics (University College London, Institute of Education) and have since worked as a teacher for four years.
Students will normally complete an assessment in order to highlight the areas that need development. From this and further discussion with the student I create a programme of study. Unless you specifically do not want it there will be homework after every session to reinforce what has been learned.
I will use regular short tests to recall past learning and there will be plenty of questions from past papers to prepare for exam success.
