Information About Rachel - Beckenham tutor - (6 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Rachel:
I love working with young people and making Maths fun and creative. I also work in psychology (at Oxford University) so use techniques from this to boost learning and confidence. I taught for 16 years in schools but I prefer one to one as I can go at the right pace for the individual and have enough time to teach things in depth in a relaxed way.
I have been teaching for twenty-four years, both as a classroom teacher and one to one tutor. My lessons in the classroom got graded outstanding and my pupils make excellent progress.
I like to relate Maths to my pupils' individual interests, whether it's animals, dancing, sports, or whatever. I use games and races and make the lessons active and fun.
Here's what one parent and pupil have said about me:
"Working with Rachel has been a lot of fun. She is a great teacher who has amazing and creative ways to help you remember Maths methods and techniques. My end of year exam mark improved from 30% to 65% in one year!"
"Rachel has been fantastic! She has really helped boost my daughter's confidence. She had a mental block and was afraid to ask questions in class. She now really enjoys the subject. We would highly recommend Rachel!"
