Information About Rachel - Driffield tutor
I'm a fantasy-fiction and travel writer hoping to be published, and as an activist and vegan I believe that there's always new progress to be made, and challenges to attempt in life and education.
Literature is an extremely important facet of my life, however the forms and specifics of education should always be questioned and re-imagined and so I am always interesting in exploring new ways to expand on my critical awareness of the world, may it be in travelling or in depth research in independent journalism.
I am able to teach in the Driffield area and also for students in York.
I'm currently studying a TEFL qualification alongside full-time work. I spent last summer teaching English as a foreign language in Sri Lanka, in both orphanages and schools for mature students.
I also come from a teaching and training background, beginning from quite a young age; I spent five years in the ATC and taught a range of students from the ages of 13 to 18 in preparation for their academic exams and also trained them in practical fields.
Each session will follow a detailed plan, however I ensure that the methods I use for tutoring are molded to the individual student's preferred way of learning, may it be through visual aid, discussion, repetition etc.
In understanding that everybody learns through different means I will attempt to engage my students in opening up their critical awareness of the world around their subject. This encouragement of mindfulness seeks to create a wider context for my students, and so their critical views take on a more complex, multi-faceted dimension.
