Information About Rachel - Cambridge tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Rachel:
I am a first class Warwick University graduate with a passion for literature and theatre.
I qualified as an English Teacher in 2012 having studied at Cambridge University. I was rated as an Outstanding classroom practitiner by OFSTED and pride myself on my ability to make complex concepts accessible to students of all ages and abilities.
In September 2017, I graduated from the UEA with a distinction in Creative Writing. I am currently working as the Marketing and Education Officer at the Cambridge Arta Theatre and pursue writing in my spare time.
I taught full time for three years as an English Teacher, taking on additional responsibilities for SEND and Gifted and Talented students.
I have been tutoring privately since 2013.
I believe that it is vital to establish and foster a respectful and understanding relationship between tutor and tutee; in order to motivate students, I am keen to get to know them and their passions, interests and humour. This enables me to adapt resources and tutorial plans to their preference, making learning engaging and rigorous.
I believe it is important for tutors to be in touch with the students' subject teacher in order to assess current performance and gauge how best to intervene and support them. It is important that tutorials complement what students are learning in the classroom in order not to confuse them. I also believe it is important to keep a log of students' progress in order to assess their learning, and to provide rigorous feedback at key stages to assess progress.
