Information About Puy - Huddersfield tutor
Craft and Design
I am a practising, qualified, contemporary artist specialised in painting. Dedicated to my core vocation as an artist, I continue to pursue a career in art teaching alongside making paintings, in order to learn from others while sharing my passion and commitment to the visual arts.
At the same time, I teach Spanish in order to satisfy my love of language and Hispanic literature, and to contribute to the general improvement of cross-cultural communication between the UK and Spanish-speaking communities. I have three years' experience living in Spain and South America, and a rich resource base of broad language knowledge, degree-level literature and tailor-made teaching materials.
Over the last year I have taught BA Contemporary Arts first years at the University of Huddersfield as an Assistant Tutor.
I have considerable experience teaching Spanish on a one-to-one basis with all levels of ability.
I am in complete agreement with Darren Henley, leader of the 2011 Review of Cultural Education, who states that young people must be encouraged to engage in creative activity in order to develop and deepen their learning abilities across the board. Art and Design must be viewed as an essential, core part of education, and must be delivered with the passion and dedication necessary to inspire students of all ages and backgrounds so that even those who do not choose to specialise in art can transfer creative cognitive skills to other subjects and projects.
As a practising contemporary artist I can bring much to young people, not only in terms of art world knowledge and practical skills, but also regarding a respect for the daily discipline required of the artist/maker to create, produce and deliver effectively.
Regarding my Spanish tutoring, each lesson and course is tailor-made to suit the individual's requirements. Careful lesson preparation and follow-up leads to the building of strong foundations and an ability to gain confidence in conversation.
