Hi there! My name is Priya, I’ve tutored for over 12 years with great success particularly in GCSE/A level sciences & psychology. Currently I'm a medical student, with previous careers in neuroscientist/ PhD work. In the past I've been an A level psychology teacher, Teaching is one of my passions, which I hope to cultivate one day after I've learnt more in this area. I enjoy teaching others and helping them realise their potential. I find building an alliance with a student is like building a relationship with a client, be aware of how they work, understand and adapt to the best ways which suit them.
I enjoy inspiring others and believe that if you have a good teacher, you can learn almost anything. I've mentored younger students with learning difficulties in the past and have been tutoring A level students for the past two years- as a teacher in a secondary school and private tuition, all students gained places at university with very pleasing grades in the subjects I taught in. I specialise in psychology and science, and work to build a rapport with the student and find the best way in which they learn and adapt to this. I involve a lot of exam preparation around teaching the course material, and try to be strategic in what we cover. My experiences in teaching have ranged from assistant teaching placements, teaching science in schools to 1:1 tuition.
I believe having a good teacher can make a huge difference to not only a grade but whether a student enjoys a subject. i aim to provide an enjoyable and proactive learning experience, ultimately improving grades. Helping others realise their potential and achieve is extremely rewarding, I hope to always work with people in this way. My thesis work during my BSc psychology was centered around the best ways in which people learn, findings were having a coach to provid support usually always helps improve results. Working with these findings I'm open to new ways of teaching, which include practice exam questions, timed mini exams, using diagrams or breaking theory into manageable chunks.
