After studying at the London School of Economics, I participated in the Teach First Leadership programme. I taught Maths in one of the toughest schools in West London, going on to be promoted to Head of A-Level Maths after my first year. I am now a Management Consultant working for PwC, but am looking to utilize my teaching experience to help students achieve their potential.
After graduating from LSE, I spent two years teaching Maths at a secondary school in West London as part of the Teach First Programme. The pupils came from a diverse range of backgrounds with many facing high levels of economic deprivation and associated social disadvantages; despite the challenging nature of the school the results of both my GCSE and A-Level students have been of the highest calibre. Despite the school only passing 44% of students with 5 A*-C GCSE grades, 100% of my pupils have left with A*-B grades in Maths. This led to me taking on the role of Head of A-Level Maths after only one year in the role. Since taking on my role at PwC, I have continued to tutor a number of students, helping them to successfully navigate the recent curriculum changes.
During my time teaching one of the most important things that I have learnt is that every child is unique, in the way that they learn and the different support they may require. Hence, throughout my teaching career I have learnt to adapt my teaching style to the meet the specific needs of individual students whether it be exam technique practice or trying to develop their deeper understanding. This tailored approach will allow my students to meet their goals, whatever they may be.
