Information About Poppy - Reading tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Poppy:
I am an Accountancy, Business Finance and Management student at University of York with an A in GCSE and A level maths. I have just finished my first year and am home for summer and hoping to help students get a head start for the following academic year. I have always loved maths and it is still my favourite subject! I have also played the flute since I was 8 and have achieved grade 7. Music is one of my main passions and I practice the flute daily for several hours (no exaggeration!). I would love to introduce tutees to this wonderful instrument and will tutor beginners. They will learn with the book that made me so passionate about the flute, Boosey Woodwind for Flute Book 1.
I am a friendly and patient person who gets on well with children and enjoys helping them with their studies. I understand the importance of early maths development and with GCSE students focus on the exam papers is key, as is the understanding of theory which is carried on to A Level. Music is also an essential in development and it is great for kids to have a hobby. Learning the flute is a great way to do this!
I have previously only tutored my brother and one other student although this has been valuable past experience. My brother found the transition from primary to secondary school difficult and required my help to catch up. Now he is up to speed and one of the top in his class since he now understands what is required for his tests, exams and for his year.
With younger students I will use fun exercises to help develop core maths skills required for their age group. Secondary school students will be aided with theory, talked through practice questions and set practice exercises. GCSE students will have help and tutoring of topics they need assistance with and help with papers will be essential so that the student knows exactly what is required in the exam.
