Personal Description:

I have a first class degree in French and spent many years living in France. I've worked as a tutor and translator and love teaching this fascinating subject. I offer after school French lessons, support with GCSE and A Level and conversation classes.

I hold an MA in English Literature and work as a writer and creative writing teacher at various locations in Leicester. A book of my own short stories will be published this year by Stonewood Press. I love language and literature and communicate this enthusiasm in my teaching. I have received excellent feedback from former students. I teach GCSE, A Level and undergraduate sessions, supporting students with assignments, reading, or whatever they need help with at a given point.

I also hold the Award in Teaching and Training. I recently completed the Introduction to Editorial Skills at the Publishing Training Centre and use proofreading and copy-editing skills to help students with essays and dissertations.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught French 1:1 and in groups, in school clubs and privately. Previously, I've worked as a grammar tutor at the University of Sussex. I have also worked as a translator.

I've taught creative writing in Brighton and Leicester for various different employers, including Leicester City Council, Leicestershire City Council, Writing East Midlands, Writing School Leicester, Saffron Arts and the University of Sussex.

I teach English -- both language and literature -- at various levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I tend to use the first session diagnostically, finding out what the tutee knows and wants to learn, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. After that, we tend to work on whatever the tutee is studying at school or in higher education, or has an interest in, be that discussing approaches to reading a set text, writing essays, or workshopping any issues with language - style, grammar, etc.
