Craft and Design
I hold a Fine Art degree and a distinction in Masters Illustration. I am a London based artist, freelance Illustrator and Designer, I have also exhibited in London and Germany.
At present I am building up my professional portfolio which includes designing for the record industry, book covers and textile designs for interiors.
As an Artist and designer, Creativity and Imagination are a very important component of how I live, I try to apply this inventiveness into my teaching. I hope to encourage students in acquiring both knowledge and skills to explore their own creativity with confidence.
I have been teaching for the last four years in a variety of settings including studio workshops and private tutoring for ages 5- 16 and most recently I have taken on an Associate Lecturing post on a BA Illustration Course.
I teach a variety of skills such as acrylic, oil and watercolour painting, drawing ; with a variety of materials.printmaking, textile design and printing, crafts, clay, collage and photography. I am able to teach all ages, but prefer to teach GCSE tuition, A Level tuition, art portfolio preparation and art scholarships, alongside tutoring at University level.
With years of teaching experience and knowledge of art education, I approach tutoring by supporting and encouraging students of all ages and abilities.
My strength lies in listening and understanding individual needs, I find it exciting to approach each student on a personal level in achieving their goals and prepare them for further study.
Energy and enthusiasm are a valuable part of my work; I relish in expanding methods and ideas. An essential element is to remain flexible and versatile within the classroom, meeting the needs of the individual. In order to cater to the students needs, I can provide set lesson plans and materials or am able to work alongside school/college set projects.
I have found that directly sharing my artistic experience with students leads to a mutual development for both parties. My strong interpersonal skills and empathic management style have allowed me to establish and maintain a positive and respectful relationship between and my students. I always aim to provide a supportive, creative environment by playing to the strengths of those around me.
Although excellence and achievement are vital in any educational field, I firmly believe that the student’s all-round personal development is just as important. I would hope to enable learners to develop confidence and self esteem, working towards becoming professional and motivated individuals.
