Information About Phillip - Abergavenny tutor
This is how a referee rated Phillip:
I am a very experienced teacher of history and geography and have taught GCSE and A-Level at both subjects. Not only do I have an excellent record of helping young people achieve, I am a very enthusiastic historian and geographer. I regularly update my knowledge with seminars, reading extensively and am involved in local history societies in South Wales.
I have taught in secondary schools since 1994 in schools in London and, briefly, in Yorkshire. Most recently I was head of humanities faculty in a busy secondary school in Hammersmith & Fulham, west London. I moved there after many years teaching in a school in Waltham Forest in east London. This experience helped develop a deep understanding of how young people learn and the different ways that they can approach the subjects to achieve good grades.
My approach to tutoring is to find out, through discussion and looking at prior pieces of work, etc. as much about the student and their potential as possible and to discover what makes them progress and what may hold them back. This then informs how I plan activities and assess progress.
