I work at a top independent school, achieving outstanding academic results (GCSE-98.5% A*/A & A-Level-95% A*/A). I have a tremendous breadth of knowledge across both physical and human Geography, having taught both courses at GCSE & A-Level.
I lead intensive revision courses during the February half-term and Easter holidays at an independent day school in central London, targeting subject knowledge and revision skills.
I have marked and examined for AQA and OCR examination boards at GCSE and A-Level and fully understand the examination process and skills demands to achieve A* and A grades.
2012-2014 - Teach First graduate programme - Geography
2014-2015 - Teacher of Geography at state comprehensive
2015-present - Teacher of Geography at independent school
I am enthusiastic about Geography and try to help students build and an appreciation and sense of interest towards the subject. This supports each student to think about the bigger picture and to consider a broad range of ideas. Where possible, I am exam focused and try to direct each student to apply what they have learnt to specific questions. I like to prepare before tuition and will often find interesting videos, articles, or ideas that can be used to direct learning. Please look at my references if you would like a greater understanding of my impact to date. My personal highlights have been:
13 year old tutee was awarded the Westminster scholarship for academic excellence (2017)
18 year old tutee increased grade from E - B and accessed his first choice university (2017)
17 year old tutee gained an A* grade after being predicted a C (2017)
