Personal Description:

I recently graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with first-class honours, and am currently studying at Bristol University as a postgraduate student in Musicology, where my principal research interests lie in Russian Music in the 19th and 20th centuries, and in music theory and analysis. I have received various academic scholarships including most promising first-year student from Royal Holloway, and also postgraduate scholarships from both Holloway and Bristol. I am also an established composer, and have composed for various ensembles in the London area. In 2014 I was awarded the Brian Dennis Memorial Prize in Composition - awarded to the best undergraduate composer in the music department. As a performer I am active as an accompanist and instrumentalist; my principal instrument is the piano, though I also play the organ, violin, and viola to a high level. If you are interested in piano lessons please feel free to find me on the First Tutors music site.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a number of years experience as a teacher of both the piano and theory, and have taught the entire spectrum of students: from seven-year olds, to secondary school aged students, to university students, to adults. I have entered many of my students for the Associated Board exams, and to date have a 100% pass rate. I am happy to take on GCSE or A-level students who are looking to improve their skills in composition, analysis, theory, harmony, and/or performance (violin, viola, or piano). (If you are interested in Associated Board or Trinity theory exams then I encourage you to find my profile on the First Tutors music website).

Tutoring Approach:

If I had to sum it up in three words it would be patient, flexible, and adaptable. All students are different; and my eclectic experience of teaching such diverse age groups has made me adept at seeking creative and innovative ways at creating engaging lesson formats that are tailored to a students needs and interests.
