I am a BSc/PhD theoretical physicist/mathematician, with wide experience in academic research, government and industry. I have long experience in providing private tuition since 2007, almost full time since 2013. The tutor availability chart shows only morning, afternoon and evening, so please tell me exactly what are the hours you need and I will respond as quickly as I can. The actual distance (ATCF) I am prepared to travel depends on location, time of day, traffic and other teaching commitments. Tuition from my home is also available.

Tutoring Experience

As a postgraduate, I supported the undergraduate teaching program via tuition in both the classroom and the laboratory. As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, I supported the undergraduate teaching program in Electrical Engineering as group tutor for maths and physics in each undergraduate year.

Since 2007, I have tutored many individuals through GCSE, A level and further education, in maths, further maths and physics.

Tutoring Approach

I adopt an informal approach for one-on-one tuition. The principal aim, beginning with the national curriculum, is to teach concepts, and to ensure that they are received and properly understood. This involves encouraging students to be enquiring and creative. Worked examples and relevant past papers form the basis of the path to success at exam time.
