Peter

Hi all, I’m Peter. My qualifications include a PhD in physics a first class masters degree and bachelors degree both in Physics. I currently work in academic research at the university of York in a diverse environment covering physics, chemistry and maths. My formal qualifications are in physics, however maths is a particularly strong subject of mine as classically physics and maths are very much complimentary. Therefore I am offering professional tutoring for up to GSCE grade and would consider upto A-level tuition.

Tutoring Experience

I have many years of teaching experience. Thoughout my PhD I ran tutorial sessions to undergraduates in both physics and maths to enable them to strengthen their knowledge. Since completeing my PhD I have been actively tutoring at GSCE level in both maths and physics and am familiar with the recent change in syllabus to the 9-1 grading system and have experience with teaching both AQA for maths and physics and also edexcel for maths.

Tutoring Approach

One of my major strengths is that I am able to communicate complicated topics to any level and try to find ways of making the material more accessible and relatable. I find that doing a mixture of taught learning mixed with answering questions with the student is the best way of the material sinking in. I am very personable and think it is best to have a good rapour with the student as this can help them to feel comfortable to ask questions if they are struggling.
