I have recently graduated with a mathematics degree from the University of Birmingham. I'm a hardworking and self driven individual who knows how to get things done. I'm a strong believer in setting goals and I always put my maximum effort in aiming to achieve these goals. I'm also a pretty chilled and easy going guy. These qualities along with my passion for rigor have helped become a good tutor and mentor.
I taught maths GCSE and A-level in a School in Italy for a year. I currently tutor privately and teach maths A-level in a private school near Earls Court. . I started tutoring in September 2011, I have tutored GCSE Mathematics, IGCSE Mathematics, IGCSE Further Mathematics, A level Mathematics and further mathematics and tutored people with a wide range of mathematical abilities. I've also tutored the mathematics access course.
I have a fun an easy going approach to tutoring. I will gauge my tutee's mathematical ability by starting off with the basics. Once I see he is able to do this, then according to the syllabus I will progress onto harder topics till I see where his strengths and weaknesses are.Once I've distinguished my tutee's strengths from their weaknesses I will take time to focus on the weaknesses but still brush up on their strengths occasionally to ensure the strengths are reinforced. This will help them become a more confident and well rounded mathematicians. When structuring a lesson I normally begin with a starter activity to help them get engaged in the topic then this is followed by the bulk of the lesson where I teach them the topics which are usually their weak points and at the same time going through examples with them and allowing them to attempt some examples on their own with my guidance. This provides an opportunity for them to take ownership of the lesson as they will be able to attempt the questions and ask for assistance if they get stuck. The last part of the lesson would be a review of what they have learnt where I would let they do some questions independently, this way they are constantly practicing and gaining confidence.
