Mathematics has always been the cornerstone for much of my educational upbringing. After studying Maths, Further Maths and Physics at South Cheshire College I went on to study a maths degree at Nottingham University. I completed my studies with the Open University and graduated with a first-class honours, achieving a distinction grade (85% +) in all but 1 of my modules.
I then went on to study the Maths PGCE course at Oxford University and upon completion moved to Ashford, Kent to teach at an all-girls grammar school. In recent times I have decided to work more closely with individual students, hence Maths tutoring has taken a more central role in my life.
I have a PGCE from the University of Oxford.
I have taught all abilities and ages at secondary level at an all girls Grammar School.
On top of my teaching I have one on one tutoring experience particularly at GCSE.
I place a great deal of importance in creating the right conditions under which a learner can feel confident in their approach to understanding new concepts. Grasping Mathematics can easily be seen as quite a daunting task, therefore it is my intention to convince students, that it is in fact accessible to everybody. Through good observation and listening, I can tailor a programme of study, to best compliment individual student's needs. I feel my patient manner facilitates a learner's independent thinking, allowing them to thrive of their own accord. In order to maximise a student's learning potential, I set achievable, yet challenging targets, with clear and methodical explanation. I aim to deliver my lessons with a purposeful enthusiasm designed to engage and inspire.
