I have just finished my MSc in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability with a specialisation in Ecological Economics, graduating with the equivalent of 2.1 from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, having graduated from the University of Leeds in July 2016 with 2.1 in BSc Geography.
At A level I studied Geography, Mathematics and Design and Technology: Product Design with Physics at AS Level.
I have a great interest in sustainability and how we can shape the future to reduce the human impact on the natural environment whilst increasing social prosperity. As a undergraduate I studied a wide range of topics, such as geomorphology, hydrology, ecology and data analysis which included a lot of maths.
I firmly believe that education is the key to success and I am excited about working with young people and inspiring them to achieve their full academic potential as well as building confidence in their own abilities.
I gained experience teaching children between the ages of 5 - 14 whilst working on a summer camp in Michigan, US as an activity instructor and camp counsellor. In addition to teaching my activity, I gave pastoral support and helped the children to enjoy the experience and get as much out of it as possible.
My role involved outdoor pursuits but I also led a daily workshop teaching children how to construct model rockets and understanding the maths and physics involved in launching them.
As a Sixth Form student at St. Ambrose College, I spent time in Sierra Leone teaching English and organising activities in a school in Bo. I also volunteered in a local Youth Club for five years on Friday nights, which included organising activities.
I have a very calm and friendly manner. I am a very considerate and positive person and will strive to guide my tutees to work through their subject areas through discussion and practical examples. My tutoring approach will be catered towards the individual tutee's needs, to help them build confidence in their answers with specific questions and general concepts.
