I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE, who has been teaching English, English Literature, History and EFL on a one to one basis for several years. I have an easygoing and pleasant demeanour, a nice sense of humour, and I generally get on well with my students. Although I like to have a friendly relationship with my tutee, I try to employ a professional manner at all times. I am a man in his early, middling years, who has an enthusiastic outlook on life, and enjoys seeing others fulfil their potential.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced teacher, who enjoys private tuition on a one to one basis. I have taught English and History on a one to one basis for students needing to improve their grades in secondary education, tutoring students up to the age of 18, and have helped many attain the grades they required at GCSE and "A" level to go on and further their education. I have also helped young students improve their literacy skills. I have considerable experience in secondary education, having worked for many years in schools and colleges, before channelling my talents into one to one tutoring. I have over fifteen years teaching experience to draw upon. I have also been an examination officer for GCSE English. I also have a wealth of experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language on a one to one basis, as well as having taught at many language schools over a number of years. At one point I went abroad and started a language school in Southern Italy.

Tutoring Approach

One to one teaching, by its nature, is very intense, so it is very important to introduce variety as much as possible. A mixture of written work, as well as oral work, if required, is essential to keep the tutee focused and interested in what you are teaching. It helps, sometimes, after an intense session, for the tutee to have a short break, before continuing. My approach is child centred, and is tailored to the tutee's needs.
