I am a retired Chartered Engineer who enjoys teaching students who want to learn. I am not interested in financial reward but teach because of the interest and satisfaction I get from helping.Resently I have had three students One was with me for five years while taking an HND, (Higher National Certificate), followed by an Electrical Engineering degree, achieving a 2.1.Another completed his GCSE in Maths getting the B grade he needed.to take up an apprenticeship.
Currently I am taking one student, who is ih the second year of a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering, for a variety of topics, but am losing aother student that I have been taking for AQA maths C!,C2,M! & M2
To keep me busy I am looking for another student, preferably at HND or rA level.
During my career I taught evening classes at Colleges of Technology, mainly at ONC, (Ordinary National Certificate), level.
After I retired I taught at Ryeish Green School as a volunteer for about 5 years, taking small groups for Maths and Physics at A level.. In addition I was the sole teacher for a student for the entire final year of an Electronics A.level. When the school closed I joined First Tutors and have now tutored 12 students at GCSE,HND and A level and one to final degree level.
My subjects are Maths, Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, & Mechanics.
When exams are looming I use past exam papers to indentify weak areas and work on those. This is probably the best short term way to getting the best mark. During term time I go over class notes to clear up any problems, and try and broaden understanding using my years of experience in engineering. Recently I have found it useful to link with students via the internet by printer and scanner.
