I am an experienced maths tutor, physics tutor and science tutor, and a qualified secondary school maths and physics teacher. I am Enhanced-DBS certified and have been a university physics professor since 2013. I am one of the lead governors at a successful specialist Mathematics A-level school, a Trustee at the Exeter Science Centre and dad to four teenagers (two girls and two boys).
I have been privately tutoring maths, physics and science at GCSE, Common-Entrance, A-level and degree level since 2005. I have been Dean for Education in a large Russel Group university for seven years, specialising in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering and Computer Science education.
I have a calm, supportive and engaging approach to tutoring. Whether face-to-face or online, I use two-way conversation to encourage and support each student towards reaching their full potential: I adapt my style for each tutee to match their specific learning needs and I work with each student initially to identity any areas of weakness or strength and then to design a tailored approach.
Examples of tutorial content could include;
– Weekly help to embed specific homework themes
– Weekly work towards broader subject understanding
– Guided past paper question practise
– Intensive topic revision and exam preparation
