Note - at the moment, I only have availability during the day - nothing after school
I have been tutoring Maths and Science for the past 7 years and I have been a Maths teacher in High School for the past 15 tears. I presently work as a Maths at Rainford High School and previously at Hawkley Hall High School, Wigan as well with Choice Teachers Agency, covering a large number of high schools.
I feel that it is valuable to have a warm and pleasant manner with my pupils in order to create the best learning environment and to make the learning process enjoyable, effective and rewarding.

Tutoring is a most valuable form of teaching, as it gives invaluable personalised learning and the individual attention students need to build their understanding and confidence. This individual attention is very difficult to get in the classroom.
My tutoring has evolved into remote 1-2-1 tutoring, where I use technology to tutor without the need for physical meetings. This very effective teaching strategy was inspired by a number of months teaching my high school classes once the schools closed due to COVID-19.
I use the advances in technology to allow students to work with complete flexibility - where and when they want to work and working at their own pace, while at the same time receiving the help and encouragement they need.
Work is set on a weekly basis, with help, hints, answers and feedback given and work is marked and assessed, determining the next work to be set.
Work is generally either practice questions for a particular topic or exam questions
There is a complete database of questions for every topic for the KS3 and GCSE curriculums as well as all the GCSE past paper questions.
The online practice questions are set that allow students can get immediate feedback on how they are doing.
The GCSE exam questions are set on a collaborative online whiteboard, where students can view the questions and write their answers.
The time when questions are done is logged, so student progress can be monitored
Work can be done on computer, ipad, tablet or phone
Quick and easy communication is vital and so a business messaging account is set up for the exchange of messages, photos of work and video explanations
In the interests of safety and transparency, the same login details are shared by the students and their parent or guardian (student's personal contact details are NOT used)
This messaging system also provides a full record of the work done.
Identify areas where help is needed and build Mathematical understanding
Exam question technique and practice
Regular positive and encouraging feedback
Increased confidence and better feeling towards Maths
Better performance in the classroom
The flexibility of learning makes it easier to complete Maths tasks through the week and even during schools holidays
It is possible to continue tutoring through the schools holidays - a powerful way to keep building Mathematical knowledge and ensuring students get ahead and even begin the new school year ahead of the crowd
