Parent - Lowestoft Sixth Form College
‘Paul was recommended to us by the maths tutor at Lowestoft Sixth Form College, as our son was struggling with the subject, Paul gave him the confidence he needed and an understanding of the subject which he had never had before, this totally changed his attitude toward maths. We have no doubt that the fact he passed his exam was down to Paul's lessons and we would highly recommend him for his patience, his enthusiasm and his excellent teaching of the subject. ‘
Mrs R… Lowestoft

Parent – Worlingham Primary School
‘Our daughter use to dread maths lessons. Through patient practise of basic skills her numeracy, confidence and self-belief have increased tremendously. We have watched as her interest in the subject has grown together with her placing in classroom tests. Thanks for all the hard work you have put in each week Paul. She now looks forward to the subject. We feel that this journey has all been worthwhile and very much appreciate your efforts.’
Mrs B… Beccles

Parent – Langely  School (Loddon)
‘Paul tutored my daughter for approximately a year leading up to her GCSE maths exam. At the time she was attending Langley School in Loddon Norfolk. She had always struggled with maths throughout her school life and had received extra tuition out of school from other tutors over the years. However she was still finding the subject difficult.
We were so pleased to find Paul who was an excellent tutor. Out of all the tutors we had been to he proved to be the only one who had the ability to teach maths in a way that she could understand and remember. Over the months they covered the GCSE maths syllabus and started going through past GCSE papers. My daughter became so much more confident with the subject and progressed very quickly. She actually started to enjoy the subject and had a real sense of achievement when she completed the work Paul set.
As Paul had previously worked as a maths teacher he had a wealth of experience teaching children of various abilities. He was very patient going over topics again and sometimes again until she understood. The tuition time spent with Paul certainly paid off and she passed her GCSE maths exam with a commendable grade c.’
Mrs D… Carlton Colville

Parent – Sir John Leman High School (Beccles)
‘Thought that you might be interested in the comments from his teacher. Our son “gained a grade E in Methods 1 and a grade B in Applications 1. This is the most remarkable improvement of any student in Year 11.” He is thrilled with that, as are we.  Thanks for all your support Paul in helping to get that result.  I know that time was not in his side by time we came to see you, but the hard work paid off.’  Mrs R… Barnby

Parent – St Benet’s Primary School (Beccles)
‘My 9 year old daughter was starting to fall behind in maths during year 5 and we found Paul’s patient, friendly and professional tutoring service hugely beneficial; primarily by helping her regain her confidence. The pleasure in seeing my child start to enjoy a subject that she had found difficult has been wonderful and we will continue to use Paul’s services to help with her SATs preparation’. Mrs B… Beccles

Parent - Notre Dame High School (Norwich)
‘Paul has been our daughter’s maths tutor for just a few weeks. During this time her confidence in maths and her grades have already improved. She responds well to his calm, patient manner and feels he explains concepts in a way that makes them easier to grasp. His sessions are planned individually according to what my daughter feels she needs to work on. He has helped her understand topics which have confused her at school. His positive approach is making her feel that maths is something she can do and not something to fear.’
Mrs O… Denton

Parent - The Denes High School (Lowestoft)
‘We were so pleased when our son told us he had gained a ‘C’ pass at last for his Maths. He always said you helped him to understand the subject more clearly’.
Ms P… Lowestoft

Adult Learning Reference From Candidate - British Army
‘I must thank Mr for the time he spent with me explaining and practising algebra and fractions. It helped me through my selection process.’
Mr S… Lowestoft

Adult Learning Reference From Candidate - Royal Navy
‘Paul and I went through past navy papers. We looked at the mechanical aptitude bits as well. It gave me confidence when doing the tests.’

Tutoring Approach:

Use the holidays to catch up on topics and be ahead of the game when you return to school. Special holiday reduced rates available for these bookings.

Confidence boosting, homework help, GCSE & SATs exam preparation, private school entry exam preparation, adult numeracy (teacher training exams, nurse practitioner exams; armed services entry papers).

All first sessions start with parents seeing a teaching portfolio of references, qualifications, career history and numerous past Enhanced CRB checks. This includes my teaching Post Graduate Certificate In Education (PGCE), my BSc (Hons) Upper Second, my Management Diploma and Chartered Engineer certificates.

I passionately believe that all pupils must achieve their best.I think that the "customer is king". The tutee decides the venue; the subject topic and the pace of learning. Only when they have agreed that they understand do we move on.

I adapt my approach to meet the abilities and pace of learning that the pupil can deal with.

I try to use my engineering management in companies such as BAE Systems, Royal Ordnance and LDV to explain the practical application of the maths and to make it "come alive". I use my experiences in electrical, motor, aerospace and armament manufacture to answer such questions as "why are we studying quadratic equations?"
