I have been a Maths tutor for the past seven years, since graduating in 2012 from Oxford University.
I specialise in teaching GCSE and A-level Maths and I strive to help students achieve the best possible exam results. I teach students of all abilities, from those who find Maths very difficult, to top set students aiming for a grade 9/A*.
Since starting in 2012, I have had over 2000 hours of tutoring experience. I have taught over 60 students, who have come to me through various agencies, including First Tutors and Blue Tutors, and also through personal recommendations.
The majority of the students I have taught have followed the Edexcel course, so I am very familiar with the Edexcel syllabus. In addition I am also familiar with the AQA and OCR Maths specifications.
I treat each student as an individual and tailor my tuition to the student's needs. I adapt my approach based on the ability of the student, using simplified language where appropriate, and using real-life examples to explain difficult mathematical concepts.
I'm very patient when a student encounters difficulty with the subject and I always try to elicit responses from the student that demonstrate whether or not an understanding has been achieved.
When starting lessons with a new student I usually start by going over any areas that the student has requested help with first. I make sure that a student is fully comfortable with the fundamental principles before moving on to more complex material. This may mean focussing on numeracy topics, such as negative numbers or the basics of algebra to allow a student access to the more difficult topics.
