Personal Description:

Hello my name is Paul I currently tutor all maths and science up to A-Level. I am from Reading, and went to Little Heath School. I studied in New Zealand where I was on the prestigious Maurice Wilkins scholarship to do medicinal chemistry and immunology at Auckland University. My PhD was on the synthesis and testing of anti-cancer vaccines. I supplemented my income by demonstrating laboratory chemistry to undergraduates and one-on-one tutoring of undergraduate chemistry. Before I went to NZ, I gained a Masters at the University of Nottingham where I studied chemistry.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring my cousins kids at key stage 3 science for free, from this experience I realized that I was pretty good at explaining science and maths in a clear and understandable way. I managed to get my first student from a fail to a 1st in degree level Chemistry. Currently I am tutoring 5 people A-level chemistry 2 of which are also getting help in A-level biology, 1 person A-Level physics and A-Level Maths, 2 A-Level Maths, 1 GCSE tripple science, 1 key stage 3 maths and science and 4 children for key stage 2 maths. I volunteer at MENCAP in Reading where I help look after children with learning disabilities (small kids and teenagers) on a Saturday. I am only available before lunch during the week or after 5.30 on a Saturday.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly person who understands that learning new subjects can be hard. I am flexible in my approach, I will try and find a way which the student can remember and apply the knowledge. Everyone learns in a different way. I can prepare lessons if given some warning, I can also go through past exam papers and discuss the subject one on one. I have a car so I am able to travel to where ever you want to be tutored, I am also able to give lessons over Skype if that is more convenient.
