This is how 2 referees rated Patrick:
I am a recent physics graduate with a strong academic background and have experience teaching secondary school and university students.
Graduating from the University of Manchester with a masters in physics, I then completed a research masters at University College London before taking up a position as a researcher in the physics department at the University of Cambridge.
In September 2018, I will begin a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in secondary school physics.
I currently only offer online tuition.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch, I am happy to answer any questions you may have!
I have taught physics at both secondary school and university level. At school level (50 hours experience): I worked as a classroom assistant in the science department and ran revision classes for GCSE, AS, and A Level students in the run-up to summer exams. At university level (200 hours experience): I have taught a range of topics (including scientific writing, critical thinking and research techniques, scientific ethics and professionalism, and technical subjects) as well as supervising laboratory classes (both experimental demonstration and theoretical teaching). I have over 75 hours of private tutoring experience.
For each level of education, this has involved providing help on a one-to-one basis - ensuring to quickly identify the issue so that students don't get left behind.
I offer friendly sessions that are tailored to each student's needs, with teaching that is adapted to best suit their own learning style. After talking through their strengths and weaknesses, we can set goals and work to reach them together. Ensuring the basics are understood, we will strengthen their understanding by working through examples (which I am happy to set, or they can be taken from classwork, homework, or past papers).
I aim to be able to provide a comfortable setting for students to learn problem solving techniques (a systematic approach to breaking down questions into manageable parts) so that they can become independent learners.
