Personal Description:

Hello, I am Patrick, an experienced and talented teacher with seven years of experience teaching Politics, History and Philosophy, and Sociology. I completed my PhD in International Politics at one of the UK's leading International Studies departments, Aberystwyth University. I hold an MA (2.1) in Politics and a MSc (Distinction) in International Politics.

Tutoring Experience:

I have seven years experience of teaching Politics, History, Philosophy and Sociology at Aberystwyth University. For three years, I taught in schools throughout Wales on behalf of Aberystwyth University as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification, as well as teaching at an independent school in London. I also ran the Aberystwyth Summer University Course, which helped students transition smoothly from school to university. All of this experience enables me to provide the very highest standards of teaching to students from the GCSE level and up.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that people are naturally inquisitive beings and see my role as tutor to encourage, fuel and foster this. For me teaching and learning is an exciting and even exhilarating experience, and I bring this enthusiasm and energy with me every time I teach. Having taught a wide range of subjects to a wide range of students, all from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, I have learnt that each student is different not only in personality but in pedagogical needs; I try to tailor my pedagogical techniques to best engage each and every one. I believe in creating a dialogue with each student to establish what works best for them and to help them find ways to engage with the subject that are meaningful.
