Personal Description:

Hi! I teach the history of ideas/intellectual history and the social history of medicine at Secondary, GCSE, A Level, undergraduate and postgraduate level, with lectures focussing on revolutionary ideology, fascism, eugenics, terrorism, philosophy, science, and religion.

I am a leading expert in the history of eugenics and religion in Britain with seven years research and writing experience; have a PhD in History; am the author of the blog 'Eugenics: Past, Present and Future'; and have delivered conference papers at the Universities of Oxford, Manchester and Swansea and Oxford Brookes University.

My first book 'Religion and Racial Progress: Bishop Barnes of Birmingham' is pending publication with Palgrave MacMillan.

Tutoring Experience:

Oxford Science Studies - History:

Tutor for GCSE and A level students, specialising in American history and modern international history.

Oxford Brookes University - Associate Lecturer:

20+ lectures delivered (undergraduate and masters level) and 100+ weekly seminar classes on the modern history of ideas and medicine. Writing and delivering lectures, preparing teaching schedules, explaining key concepts and analytical techniques in class, holding one-to-one tutorials, marking assignments.

Encouraging reviews from classes and module leaders; all students passing the modules and most achieving 60 (B/2:1/merit) or higher.

Tutoring Approach:

Using a student-led/collaboratory approach, making the curriculum more accessible, history easier to understand and above all, increasing adaptability in the student's application of knowledge.
