After leaving Howell's School, Llandaff, I studied French and Theatre Studies at Warwick University before completing a PGCE, also at Warwick University, training to teach Modern Languages (French, German); Drama, English and RE, to pupils from 11-18 years of age. I later completed a Master's degree in Comparative Literature at King's College, London.
I am mum to three sons, including my youngest who is on the autistic spectrum. I have taught in a variety of contexts, to many levels, including GCSE and 'A' level, as well as beginners and casual learners. I have also written a book, 'Another Kind of Ordinary...' by Pam Cottle, about my experiences of being mum to an individual with autism and learning difficulties.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught French to individuals aged from 10 to 70 in comprehensive and grammar schools, college and evening classes and at levels ranging from beginners and casual learners to GCSE and 'A' Level examination groups. I have also had many years' experience of tutoring individuals for public examinations.

Tutoring Approach

I approach tutoring as a means of providing professional teaching in a format tailored to the individual's learning style and needs. I usually commence with a diagnostic session to assess the student's ability, combined with discussion with him/her about what they see as the priority in setting learning goals. For examination students, it is helpful to know which syllabus is being followed and which text book is used.
