I am a qualified primary school teacher of 16 years and have worked with EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils. I am a friendly, approachable and enthusiastic person who enjoys creativity and always keen to discover more about the world around us. I enjoy and promote healthy lifestyle which includes the mind as well as the body. I have a great sense of humour and a good listener. I am also a keen football fan and often attend matches in support of my team.
I gained a BA Ed (Hons) in 1999. Since then I have been teaching in the EYFS and KS1 classrooms and tutoring both KS1 and KS2 children in literacy. I am currently running intervention groups with Year 2 pupils at a local primary, supporting phonics, spelling and basic sentence structure. As well as my school base role I have tutored literacy in the evenings to pupils of both KS1 and KS2 abilities.
I use a range of strategy to support children in improving their reading and writing skills. I use resources that supports the letters and sounds program for phonics and reading scheme text to support reading. I also use a range of comprehension text and develop compositions with a chance to review and revisit areas that requires the most support. The resources used will be both high quality IT programmes as well as practical games and worksheets. I will often provide relevant homework and support for any school homework given to pupils
