Only available for summer tutoring sessions.
I am currently working as an 'outstanding' English teacher in a secondary school. I studied English and American Literature at Birmingham University and always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I believe that I am a creative and passionate teacher, who makes lessons fun and engaging for all students.
I am an avid reader and a lover of all things Harry Potter and other fantasy novels. I enjoy encouraging students and giving them confidence in English, so that they love it as much as me!
The summer GCSE exams are coming up so I am offering some weekend sessions for revision leading up to this.
I have been teaching English literature and English language for four years now, which has given me a thorough understanding of the new GCSE specifications, for AQA in particular. I have also taught the EDEXCEL and WJEC exam course, giving me diversity in helping tutees pass their exams.
I have experience of teaching KS3, KS4 and KS5 to a wide range of abilities and needs, where I provide differentiated work in order to help support the and challenge all students.
I teach Literature and Language at GCSE and have a excellent understanding of the markscheme and how to help students understand the skills and techniques needed in the exam.
My approach to tutoring consists of initially working with the student to decipher the areas where they feel confident and the areas that they need support in. I will then develop a course of sessions which wil target these needs and improve them. Working one-to-one with appropriate resources will ensure that the tutee is supported in the appropriate and most effective way.
Because I am currently working as an English teacher, I have a vast array of resources that I will use to help the tutee, aswell as creating work which is individualised for them. After they have completed some work, I mark it and work with the student on how they could improve it further. Consistently making progress in each session.
I am extremely friendly and I like to build a trusted relationship with the tutee, to ensure that they feel comfortable in approaching me with questions.
