Information About Owain - Belfast tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Owain:
My name is Owain. I'm originally from Wales, but have lived in Belfast for a number of years. I have studied History at A-level, Undergraduate and at a Masters level. My areas of interest/knowledge are WW1, WW2, the Cold War, and political history of the early 20th Century. However, I am of course more than happy to cover other topics, especially if relating to the study of primary and secondary source. Studying sources at GCSE and A-level is primarily about the source itself and how to examine a source; therefore, contextual knowledge is not as essential.
I also happen to be a fluent Welsh speaker, so can offer Welsh lessons for anyone who wishes to learn.
Unfortunately I have no teaching experience, other than a period of work experience at a primary school. However, from working at the Ulster Museum I have gained valuable experience in communicating with people of all ages and backgrounds. In order to conduct tours of the museum and Birthday parties, being able to effectively impart information clearly and patiently to people is essential.
I don't have a personal CRB check, however I have a CRB check through my role at the Ulster Museum, and references are available.
My approach to tutoring would be informal and relaxed, yet thorough. The lessons would very much depend on what help you are wanting from me as a tutor. I would ensure that I cover all areas of concern for the pupil, which may include the planning, structuring and information required for coursework and exam essays. Also, an important part of History is the study of primary and secondary sources, and therefore I would outline the various points that need to be addressed when examining a source.
Please feel free to contact me about anything regarding tuition :)
