Having successfully completed a PhD (2011) in History in 2011 following a BA in History (2005) and Masters in Medieval History (2006), I have recently authored a book on Cultural imagery in medieval poetry, a university text published by E.J. Brill in 2017. I have tutored English for GCSE and A-Level students for twelve years, specialising in language analysis and literary interpretation, writing skills and exam preparation.
I have tutored countless students preparing for SATs, GCSEs and A-Levels, have taught all major texts studied at GCSE and A-Level, including Shakespearean texts and poetry anthologies. I have also taught at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I most recently completed a post-doctorate tenure in Politics and International Relations 2012-2015.
I have learnt that what many students often find difficult is language analysis in their prose and poetry texts. Since the specification change this has become far more relevant. It is also what usually students them of the higher marks. My tutoring is tailored to ensure that students gain a thorough understanding of texts, and are able to effectively interpret and comment on them. I prepare students for outstanding pieces of written work and also help with general English work and exam practice.
