I am a 30 year old Primary School teacher with seven years experience in primary and secondary settings. I specialise in Maths and English at primary school level and History at GCSE and A-Level.
As a primary school teacher, I have run successful interventions to boost SAT results in Maths, Reading and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG). I have an awareness of the national curriculum and the skills needed for children to be successful at secondary school. I have been on official triaining by AQA for the History GCSE syllabus. I have successfully taught History at GCSE levels with 100% pass rates to children with poor literacy, special educational needs or who speak English as an additional language.
As a tutor, the most important aspect for me is to do an initial assessment through conversation and mini tasks. From there I can inform the students of their strengths and areas to work on and co-operatively decide on the next steps from there. It is important to me that tutoring is a combination of building confidence in what a learner already knows and using that to work through areas which are more of a challenge.
