Olivia

Hello! My names Olivia and I am 26 years old. Six years ago I graduated from Royal Holloway with a First Class Honours degree in Psychology. I have been teaching Psychology A Level for five years and qualified in 2018. I completed my PGCE at University College London (institute of education). I am a bubbly and outgoing person who is friendly, kind, and approachable. I have a passion for dance and drama. I have lots of other experience, aside from teaching, working with children. For example, at university I held information days for children interested in higher education, My psychology background has enabled me to learn important aspects of the social, emotional and cognitive development of children as well as key theories that can be applied in education. I am a committed and determined individual who always endeavours to deliver my best.

Tutoring Experience

I have lots of experience teaching. My most valuable experience has been my year of teaching psychology this year. At the institute of education, I have attended lectures and workshops to explore how students best learn and retain psychology, and how to deliver engaging lessons. These workshops have been delivered by outstanding educational experts and examination board representatives. I have been a tutor for many years helping to tutor students as well as mutual friends as well as friends/family with their GCSE's and A-Levels. Further, I have worked on two separate occasions for a Montessori pre-school in Essex, as a teaching assistant in an international school in Zurich, and at a local prep school in Essex. More recently, I have had a job working in a local secondary school as an Academic Mentor with children aged 11 - 16. I have spent five years teaching A Level Psychology (both Edexcel and AQA) and I have recently started teaching the IB too.

Tutoring Approach

I am very flexible in my approach to tutoring and I always alter things to the needs of my students. I like to think outside the box and try to help students learn or revise in a way that fits their own needs and learning styles. I feel it is important that students learn in a variety of mediums not just sitting and listening.
In my Psychology A-Level I scored 100% on both of my A2 papers, and my dissertation and all of my third year examinations at university were graded as firsts. This is not just because I am naturally clever. I am hard working and organised, and have an array of tested revision techniques that are both innovative and effective which I would like to share with my students.
Overall, I will be committed to achieving great outcomes for my students and making it an enjoyable experience for them.
