Online Maths and Physics Lessons

I studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford, and I am currently doing a PhD in Neuroscience. I have nearly 5,000 hours of one-to-one tutoring experience, of which over 2,000 online. I specialise in tutoring Chemistry (up to degree level), Maths (up to A-Level), and essay-writing support (especially EPQ/Extended Essay). I also tutor Physics and Biology to GCSE, and conversational French.

I am a musician as well as a scientist, I play the violin and viola. I also run, cycle, swim (I am training for a triathlon), dance, practise yoga, and am a qualified SCUBA diver.

Tutoring Experience

I provide guidance with university applications, including advising on university choices, personal statement writing, and interview preparation. I also have experience teaching Chemistry at all levels up to and including degree level, and Maths at all levels up to and including A Level. I teach Physics and Biology to GCSE, and French to all levels.

I have tutored for 4,000+ hours, with 150+ students. My students results regularly improve by 2-3 grades, and I help improve their confidence in the subjects I tutor, which often spills over into other fields, and helps them feel happier with their school work and life generally!

Tutoring Approach

I tutor in such a way as to help my students come to answers themselves, giving them guidance along the way, and telling them the answer outright only when necessary. I firmly believe this helps with both understanding and retention of information. This also helps the student to apply the knowledge to a wide range of questions in exams.

I am highly flexible when tutoring, explaining material in as many different ways, and using as many different types of learning, as are needed for the student to understand. This process is of course much faster after the first few sessions when, I have an understanding of which sort of explanation my tutee will best understand. On top of this, I always do my best to make sessions as fun and interesting as possible.
