Personal Description:

I am a University of Oxford Physics graduate, currently in my final year studying a PhD at UCL in computational materials. I have over 5 years experience as a Physics and Maths tutor working for both agencies and private clients, tutoring over 30 clients through their GCSEs and A levels. I have also previously marked undergraduate exams for UCL. I was awarded the Harrie Massey prize for coming top in my year during my MSc Physics course at UCL.

I am also a keen rower having represented both Oxford University lightweights in the Henley Boat Races and UCL at Henley Royal Regatta. I am currently a member of Furnivall sculling club.

Tutoring Experience:

- 5 years experience
- Over 30 previous clients
- Previous undergraduate examination marker for UCL
- Several long term clients from GCSE to A levels
- Maths and Physics tutoring at GCSE and A level with a variety of exam boards
- School entrance exams
- Oxbridge interview and aptitude test preparation
- Extensive **Contact Detail Removed** tutoring

Tutoring Approach:

I use an Oxford tutorial style approach to teaching, which I find works well for students of all levels. This is an individually tailored approach which involves students developing their own answers to problems through careful guidance and suggestion. A key advantage to this method is that it helps build confidence and encourages independent thought. I find that often students need more help learning when and how to apply their knowledge than relearning subjects they've covered in school.

In terms of lesson structure I first assess a student's aptitude by taking them through a past paper and seeing how they approach questions and problem solving. I will then identify problem areas and topics and cover these areas in more depth. This means lessons are focused and have more impact by focusing on a student's weaker areas.
