I am completing a Masters' in Theoretical Physics at Bristol University, having studied Engineering Science at Oxford University previously. I have a keen interest in Mathematics and Physics and a passion for understanding them, which I strive to pass on to tutees.
For a year before my Masters', I held a position as Online Marketing Executive for The Hut Group, managing marketing investment for the UK's largest sports nutrition retailer. I have worked at an Engineering consultancy for several months, Morson Projects, simulating stresses in components for an upcoming Bombardier aircraft. I have great experience in Mathematical modelling software such as CAD, FEM and MatLab.
I am currently tutoring children at Secondary School level and Sixth Form/College level, but would also be open to primary education.
As a person, I am easy-going, patient, articulate and down to earth. I understand the need to inspire confidence in order to learn.
Outside academia, I play football and scuba dive. I am CRB checked.
Qualifications and Awards:
GCSE grades of 8 A*'s (including Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and all 3 Sciences) and 6 A's.
'A' Level grades A*A*AA in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and History.
BTEC in Aviation Studies.
Winner of the Ogden Trust Young Physicist of the Year.
I have been tutoring Mathematics for two years now (see client reviews below). I have a large amount of experience working with children. As an ex-Scout Leader, I have taught children many skills such as orienteering, as well as leading group activities such as canoeing expeditions.
Having moved through the education system in recent years, I am very familiar with the subject specifications and most importantly know how to pass the exams.
My tutorial structure would involve initially evaluating the level which the child is at. From there, focus on topics that the child is having difficulty with. Topics that are being worked on will be reviewed via homework regularly. As well as this, if the tutee is struggling with a particular topic that they come across during school time, we would be able to review that.
Promoting an interest in these subjects is also important to me. As a former Engineering student, I will be able to tell tutees about the possible applications of the work being covered.
