I am a QTS qualified, native-Greek speaking teacher with BA in Primary Education and MA in Drama and Theatre Education. I have strong theoretical knowledge and confidence in my practice. During my Master's studies I examined the use of drama as a pedagogic approach in language acquisition for second language learners.
I always devote time researching extensively into specialist bibliography and seek every opportunity to undertake further training in order to achieve my teaching duties. I am currently studying for a PhD in Education at the University of Nottingham.
I have seven years teaching experience in Primary schools in Greece, Greek Community Schools in the U.K. and in private tuitions. I have been teaching Greek as a Second Language and as a Foreign Language at all levels, from primary students to adult learners with various literacy backgrounds. I am confronted with the challenge to help bilingual and English speaking students build confidence in expressing themselves in Greek and motivate them to become active learners.
I plan my teaching taking into account special educational needs, cultural background and emotional considerations. I always implement effective intervention plans tailored to my students' individual needs. I prepare educational material and interactive exercises based on modern communicative approaches in order to develop my students' language skills.
I organise my lesson plans in creative and inspiring ways using drama as educational tool. I believe in drama as a way of learners' language acquisition, as it helps them get engaged in communication situations with cultural and social dimensions.
